We are seeking an innovative, flexible, and open-minded dynamic business development manager with an engineering background.
You will be part of the Commercial Team working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), to create, identify, grow, take ownership and close revenue generating opportunities. It will include the demonstration and sale of subscriptions to the Kinewell engineering software solutions, as well as supporting the development of bespoke software and engineering consultancy projects, and R&D innovation projects.
You will be a collaborative team player striving for team results, both internally and with clients.
You will take advice and support from the team while also, as required, provide advice and support to the wider staff – you will be empowered to express opinions and utilise initiative.
You will be commercially aware and have an excellent rapport with both internal and external stakeholders, including the development and maintenance of a wide-ranging relevant network.
You will maintain and develop an in-depth knowledge of the offshore wind development process and its value-chains, challenges industry stakeholders face, industry trends, political direction, and use this knowledge to identify and value new revenue generating opportunities.
You will need a global outlook and prioritise the most important opportunities for the company.
As required, you may also support the delivery of consultancy and R&D projects using your relevant skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Make sales of Kinewell’s skills, experience, capabilities, and subscription based products and servicesBuild and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Identify and highlight potential revenue generating opportunities to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Take ownership of subscription proposals, consultancy project proposals and innovation project proposals to ensure the timely delivery.
- Provide strategic advice on pricing, contract structures, and payment terms, balancing profitability with client satisfaction.
- Working with the CCO, identify when and how additional legal advice is required during contract negotiation.
- Stakeholder management:
- Take ownership of relevant entries within the CRM to track key accounts, sales pipelines, and customer interactions.
- Leverage CRM data to identify emerging opportunities and areas for improvement, driving sales strategy and performance reviews.
- Share insights from client feedback, industry trends, and market developments with the senior leadership team to influence and inform the company’s product roadmap.
- Externally facing business positioning
- Develop, build, utilise and maintain multiple business networks to identify and create opportunities for the company and to reinforce the company’s brand positioning.
- Keep up to date with all relevant industry developments.
- Represent the company at conferences, webinars, and industry panels to build the company’s reputation and expand its visibility including undertaking presentations and panel discussions as required.
- Engage with clients, industry influencers, and key stakeholders to cultivate strategic relationships.
- Support the Marketing team to develop marketing campaigns, opportunities, proposals, write thought leadership articles, whitepapers, or blog posts.
- Continually identifying and reviewing new potential markets, sectors, products and services that will enhance the growth and development of the company.

- Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write specifically and concisely
- Commercially aware with a proven ability to understand the needs of others to find common ground for successful collaboration and agreement
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships, with a wide and relevant network that can be leveraged (specifically in the following domains: offshore wind inter-array cable systems, offshore wind export systems, offshore wind turbine layout and energy yield, transmission inter-connectors, floating wind moorings and anchors, marine operations planning, or software development)
- Proven ability in negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of successfully closing deals and achieving revenue targets
- Proven ability in either a Software as a Service (SaaS) based business or a time-based consultancy business
- Experience and successful application of sales and marketing theory, coupled with strong analytical and research skills, to analyse sales data and make evidence based decisions.
- A proven ability to successfully delegate, communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, manage relationships with internal and external partners, and manage conflicts of interest that arise.
- Proven leadership skills to motivate colleagues and bring people along with the plan
- Experience negotiating IP licensing agreements, and balancing the various benefits and risks in complex value-chains.
- Engineering expertise and experience in an area relevant to the company
Desirable
- A sound understanding of the innovation funding landscape, and proven ability to bid for, and successfully secure, funding including for complex multi-stakeholder projects
- Ability to effectively communicate in languages other than English that are relevant to the offshore wind market
- Experience working with Hubspot
- A strong understanding of model-based engineering, the required accuracy for the task in hand, and the sources of error between the real world and the model
