Inspection Technician

Our client, is seeking an experienced Inspection Technician (Onshore) to support their business operations based in Aberdeen. This is a safety-critical role with site travel required.

Role overview

The Inspection Technician will be responsible for carrying out statutory thorough examinations of lifting equipment, NDT inspections, load testing, and related inspection activities in line with legislative, client, and company standards. Work may be completed independently or as part of a team.

Key duties

• Conduct statutory thorough examinations of lifting equipment
• Carry out NDT inspections where qualified
• Perform load testing using test rigs, known weights, or water bags
• Complete inspection reports and job documentation accurately and on time
• Identify, report, and escalate defects and safety issues
• Prepare site risk assessments and permits prior to work
• Maintain safe, tidy work areas and attend safety briefings
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to deliver inspection scopes
• Travel to client sites as required

Essential Requirements

• MPI qualification – ASNT or PCN Level 2
• Minimum 1 year experience in lifting equipment inspection and NDT
• Experience with wire rope inspection
• Sound knowledge of lifting equipment and NDT practices
• IT literate
• Full UK driving licence (manual)
• Ability to work safely in a safety-critical environment

Desirable

• LEEA Entry Certificate
• Additional NDT techniques (ET, UT, VT – CSWIP or PCN L2)
• HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, or apprenticeship in a technical discipline
• Rope access / working at height experience
• Ability to read engineering drawings
