Currently seeking an experienced Subsea Support Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a global drilling contractor based in Aberdeen.
Based out of the company’s Aberdeen office, you’ll be supporting offshore operations and will also be responsible for managing critical spares / equipment, ensuring that inventory is correct. You’ll witness testing to ensure that testing / maintenance is carried out accurately.
This opportunity would suit a candidate who has a strong workshop background (preferably at Workshop Supervisor level) within the subsea / well control field, and has since moved into an office-based support engineering / Project Coordinator type role. Liaising closely with project managers / projects engineers, and reporting directly to the Subsea Superintendent, the Subsea Support Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Providing support to the Subsea Manager, Subsea Superintendents and Rig Managers for all subsea equipment and associated activities offshore and onshore.
- Liaising with Subsea Manager, Subsea Superintendents and Rig Managers to provide support for the Operations Department and ongoing projects.
- Providing support for the maintenance of all well control equipment to standards required by the certifying authorities. Monitoring the status and effectiveness of planned maintenance schedules to ensure maximum equipment efficiency.
- Providing written procedures and safety instructions regarding subsea equipment, covering operation, maintenance and repair.
- Monitoring equipment failures and compile fleet engineering bulletins and reports for management.
- Responding to all documentation, reports and other communications regarding subsea equipment.
- Preparing job packs and budgets for all surveys, modifications and projects.
- Directing all offshore subsea staff to ensure that all equipment under their control is maintained and operated in a safe manner.
- Coordinating and liaising with clients and third-party vendors for production of riser analysis studies and other calculation work.
- Participating in operational and project meetings as required.
Experience / Qualifications:
- An IWCF Well Control Certificate would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Subsea Support Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil & gas industry, would be preferred.
- Experience with subsea / well control equipment is essential.
- Previous experience in a Workshop Supervisor type role, directly within the subsea / well control field, would be preferred.
- Applicants should have a strong workshop background and will be expected to have worked as a Mechanical /
- Maintenance Technician within the subsea / well control field previously.
