Overview job description:

Based in Aberdeen and reporting to the Applications & IT Governance Manager, this role supports digital improvement across the organisation. You will identify optimisation opportunities, enhance collaboration, and deliver solutions using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Power BI, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT governance frameworks.

A proactive Business Analyst focused on digital workplace solutions. You’ll work across all functions to analyse requirements, propose improvements, and translate needs into technology solutions. You will also act as an escalation point for selected applications, supporting enhancements, upgrades, and complex functional issues.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Solution Delivery & Innovation:

  • Analysing business needs and convert them into solution designs and specifications.
  • Building and supporting low-code/no-code solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
  • Delivering Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Producing business cases, process maps, user stories, and supporting documentation.

Adoption & Change Management:

  • Driving user adoption via training, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Promoting digital literacy and continuous improvement.
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, project teams, and vendors to support digital initiatives.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensuring adherence to Microsoft 365 governance across Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Power Platform.
  • Supporting compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (including GDPR).
  • Following lifecycle management, access controls, and retention policies.

Application Portfolio Control:

  • Managing and optimising an assigned portfolio of applications.
  • Planning upgrades, enhancements, and improvements to user experience.
  • Assessing licensing, renewals, and opportunities for rationalisation.

Vendor Management:

  • Managing third-party relationships and ensure services deliver expected value.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Strong ability to gather, analyse, and document business requirements.
  • Experience delivering solutions in Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex application support issues.
  • Experience designing and managing Power BI solutions.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365/Power Platform governance and security models.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data privacy considerations.
  • Stakeholder engagement experiences up to senior levels.
  • Vendor and supplier management capability.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple workloads.
  • Awareness of digital solutions in the energy/asset-intensive sector (desirable).
  • Strong technical writing skills (business cases, communication packs, test plans, user documentation).
  • Willingness to adopt new technologies and drive change.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, engineering, or similar — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience delivering Power Platform solutions and managing application lifecycles.
  • Certifications in Project Management, Business Analysis, or Power Platform are advantageous.
